Southern Vermont Marketplace, NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING The Town of Bennington is considering making an application to the State of Vermont for an implementation grant under the Vermont Community Development Program. A public hearing will be held at 6:15 P.M. on July 27, 2015 at the Town of Bennington Fire Facility, 3rd Floor, 130 River Street, Bennington VT to obtain the views of citizens on community development, to furnish information concerning the amount of funds available and the range of community development activities that may be taken under this program, the impact to any historic and archeological resources that may be affected by the project, and to give affected citizens the opportunity to examine the proposed statement of projected use of the funds. The proposal is to apply for $500,000 in VCDP funds to establish a NeighborWorks of Western Vermont satellite office within the Town of Bennington for a period of two years, with two full time staff positions, one home repair specialist and one HomeOwnership Center person certified to deliver all NeighborWorks programs, and to provide funding for loans and grants to low income homeowners to make home repairs. Other activities using VCDP grant funds shall include: handicap accessibility, lead based paint removal, homeownership services, and program management and general administration.
