Delco Times, PUBLIC NOTICE Examination for Police Officer in the Upper Darby Township Police Department Notice is hereby given that the Civil Service Commission of Upper Darby Township will hold a written examination in the Beverly Hills Middle School cafeteria, located at 1400 Garrett Road, Upper Darby, PA on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. for applicants to qualify for appointment to the rank of police officer in the Upper Darby Township Police Department. The lifetime of the eligible list will be up to three (3) years from the date of its preparation, but the Commission may terminate the list earlier and schedule a new examination at its discretion. Applicants shall be at least twenty-one (21) years of age within sixty (60) days following the date of examination, have a valid driver’s license and a high school diploma or high school equivalency certification. Applications must be fully completed. Applicant must be, or agree to become, a resident of Upper Darby Township within six (6) months after completion of his/her probationary period, and must remain a resident of Upper Darby Township through completion of the fifth year of his/her employment, after which an officer is permitted to become a resident at any location within a twenty (20) mile radius measured from the intersection of Township Line Road and West Chester Pike; however, the township may require that criminal investigators live within a fifteen (15) mile radius. Applicant must pass the written police officer civil service test with a minimum grade of seventy (70) and must pass a police officer oral civil service test with a minimum grade of seventy (70). Prior to the written examination, the Civil Service Commission of Upper Darby Township will hold a physical agility test at 8:30 a.m. on September 19, 2015 at Delaware County Community College, 901 South Media Line Road, Media, PA 19063 for all applicants. The physical agility test will consist of four segments: Push-ups; Sit-ups; a 1.5 mile run and a 300 meter run. Applicants are required to bring two (2) forms of identification, including at least one (1) photo identification. Applicants will be fingerprinted the morning of the physical agility test as part of the application process. Applicants who fail the physical agility test will be disqualified from further consideration and will not be permitted to take the written examination on October 17, 2015. The physical agility test is a mandatory requirement and any applicant who does not participate on September 19, 2015, will be deemed to have failed. When applicant receives a conditional offer of employment from Upper Darby Township, applicant shall be required to undergo a background investigation, a polygraph test, a psychological examination and a medical examination, which will include a drug test. The cost for these tests shall be paid for by Upper Darby Township. Applicants who fail any of these tests shall be eliminated from any further consideration. Application forms may be obtained beginning August 3, 2015 from the Upper Darby Police Department, 7236 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Applications for the police officer examination must be returned to the Upper Darby Police Department, 7236 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA no later than 12:00 p.m. on September 4, 2015.
