Daily Local, NOTICE OF PROPOSED ENACTMENT OF ORDINANCE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Supervisors of East Whiteland Township, during their regular meeting on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the East Whiteland Township Municipal Building, 209 Conestoga Road, Frazer, Pennsylvania, will consider the enactment of an ordinance amending Chapter 189 Article III (entitled “Parking Regulations; Handicapped Parking; Fire Lanes”) of the Codified Ordinances of East Whiteland Township. The title of the ordinance is: AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF EAST WHITELAND, CHESTER COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, AMENDING THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF EAST WHITELAND TOWNSHIP, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING CHAPTER 189 ARTICLE III (ENTITLED “PARKING REGULATIONS; HANDICAPPED PARKING; FIRE LANES”) SECTION 189-31.A TO ESTABLISH HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACES The proposed ordinance: deletes and replaces Section 189-31.A; allows individuals with a person with disability or severely disabled veteran license plate to apply to the Township for a residential disabled parking permit; requires that such permit applications be supplied on a yearly basis; sets forth the information that must be included with such application; once a permit is issued, the Township is required to review the existing reserved parking in the area of the permit holder to determine if additional reserved parking is required; does not guarantee the installation of reserved parking in front of the permit holder’s house and does not guarantee or reserve to the permit holder any particular reserved parking space; if a determination is made that there is a need for additional reserved parking a request is made to the Department of Public Works and the Department is responsible for the installation, removal or relocation of reserved parking signs in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation; in determining whether installation, removal or relocation of a sign is warranted, the Township will consider the number of permit applications received from that particular neighborhood and the number of signs already installed in that area; supercedes prior inconsistent ordinances; contains a severability clause; and contains an effective date.
