Times Union, PUBLIC NOTICE SPECIAL TOWN ELECTION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to Section 12 and Section 92 of the Town Law, a Special Election of the qualified voters of the Town of Westerlo, Albany County, New York will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the Westerlo Town Hall located at 933 County Route 401, Westerlo, New York from 6 AM through 9 PM. The purpose of the Special Election is to determine whether the Town of Westerlo should engage in the renovation of the Town Hall located at 933 County Route 401, and demolition of the existing Town Highway Garage located at 671 County Route 401 and construction, at the same location, of a new highway garage, containing approximately 8900 square feet (collectively "the project"). The Town Hall project would include upgrading the heating system, relocating the NYS Police Annex and the Town Court thereto, upgrade the interior for ADA compliance, renovate the exterior and upgrade the same for ADA compliance, and site work for a sidewalk, parking and entrance. The Highway Garage Project would include demolition of the existing garage, construction of a new energy efficient building, evaluation of the existing septic and upgrade if necessary, and drilling a new well outside of the new building. The estimated maximum cost of the project is set at $2,750,000.00 and said amount, under Resolution No. 21 of 2015, would be appropriated for the project through the issuance of bonds or notes to finance said appropriation. The periods of probable usefulness is thirty (30) years with respect to the renovation work on the Town Hall and thirty (30) years with respect to the construction of the new garage, but the bond maturity is not expected to exceed twenty (20) years, excluding the terms of any notes issued in anticipation of such bonds.
